Founded in 1985 as a forum of importers, we’ve evolved over the years, becoming the Indian Importers Association (IIA) in 2002 and subsequently transforming into the Indian Importers Chambers of Commerce and Industry (IICCI) in 2015. Era of liberation began in 1991. Direct Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) came into being and all import restrictions were removed. With a global outlook, our extensive network encompasses collaborations with Chambers of Commerce worldwide and trade offices in India, facilitating international partnerships and engaging with international trade organizations.
At IICCI, we play a crucial role as a bridge in the realm of international trade, contributing to the growth of the Indian economy and the global business community. We actively collaborate with various Chambers of Commerce across the globe, fostering alliances that expand business horizons. Additionally, our close relationships with international trade offices in India, such as AMCHEM (USA), VIETNAM TRADE OFFICE, SPANISH TRADE OFFICE, SOUTH AFRICAN TRADE OFFICE, AUSTRADE (AUSTRALIA), MATRADE (MALAYSIA), and CCPIT (CHINA), further strengthen our global reach.
Our international presence extends beyond borders, connecting with esteemed international trade organizations like CIFTI (Moscow), Kotra (Korea), CEPEC (Tunisia), and many others. - Letter from
- the President
The history of the Indian Importers Chambers of Commerce & Industry (IICCI) started in 1985. Some like-minded businessmen started the Indian Importers Association (IIA) in 1985, as import was a new domain of business. This was so because the Government of India had channelled and restricted imports into India; this was done by MMTC, PSU, STC, PEC etc. When the FTP (Foreign Trade Policy) had a liberalised imports under Open General Licence (OGL), then the imports into India were free.
Indian Importers Chambers of Commerce & Industry (IICCI) today help Foreign/Indian companies do seamless business in import and export. It also offers services for joint ventures, 100% FDI/ODI, transfer of technology (TOT) etc. It is a platform that addresses a 360° solution for businessmen with its global presence of representatives, offices, and independent chapters (like IICCI Bangladesh Ltd, IICCI EU SRL Italy, IICCI USA Inc., IICCI Vietnam JSC, IICCI Russia Ltd, etc.). It has compressed the world into a global village. It works in a world-wide network.
